Music by Ludwig Minkus

A jewel of 19th-century classical ballet, Paquita was originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier and premiered in 1846 at the Paris Opera. The version most often performed today—especially the Paquita Grand Pas Classique—was staged by Marius Petipa in 1881 for the Imperial Ballet in St. Petersburg, with additional music by Ludwig Minkus.

Known for its dazzling technique, regal style, and brilliant ensemble work, Paquita is a favorite among ballet companies worldwide. The Grand Pas is often performed independently as a gala piece, showcasing the precision and elegance of classical ballet.

This enchanting pas de deux appears in Act III of The Sleeping Beauty, one of the most beloved ballets in the classical repertoire. Choreographed by Marius Petipa and set to the iconic score of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the “Blue Bird” pas de deux is performed during the wedding celebration of Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré, where fairy tale characters are invited to dance.

Though loosely inspired by the mythological tale of the huntress goddess Diana and the mortal Acteon, this variation is more a showcase of technical prowess and fiery character than narrative storytelling.

Set to the dynamic score of Riccardo Drigo, the solo features powerful jumps, swift footwork, and commanding presence—highlighting the strength, grace, and athleticism of the dancer portraying the goddess of the hunt.

Performed by Sacha Venkatasawmy, Ravi Cannonier, and Emerson Gamble, the piece blends sharp gestures, fluid transitions, and character-driven storytelling to bring Brel’s satirical lyrics to life.

Full of wit and physicality, Les Bourgeois is a standout contemporary work that invites both laughter and reflection.

Music by Vincenzo Lamagna

This powerful solo is drawn from Creature, a full-length contemporary ballet choreographed by Akram Khan. Set to a haunting score by Vincenzo Lamagna, the work explores themes of isolation, control, and resilience in the face of institutional power.

Danced by Ravi Cannonier, the solo is both raw and refined—combining grounded, visceral movement with emotional intensity. Khan’s signature style, rooted in kathak and contemporary dance, gives the piece a unique physical language that is both human and otherworldly.

Creature is a poignant and demanding work, and this solo captures its emotional core with striking clarity.

Performed by Maia Rose Roberts

Choreography by Jason Kittelberger

Ashes is a powerful contemporary solo that explores themes of grief, loss, and transformation. Originally created for the Lynn Seymour Award for Expressive Dance at The Royal Ballet School, the piece is noted for its emotional depth and lyrical movement vocabulary.

Danced by Maia Rose Roberts, the solo unfolds with quiet intensity and raw vulnerability, blending moments of stillness with sweeping phrases and grounded strength. Kittelberger’s choreography demands both technical control and emotional nuance, offering a deeply human portrait of resilience rising from sorrow.
